Nina Kolyako, BC, Riga, 22.04.2013.Print version
On April 24, 2013 in Ventspils, at 27 Rūpniecības Street, the new house modules’ production unit of LTD Heimdal Skonto Latvia will be introduced to the journalists and other interested people. The house modules are produced in the new production unit for several months, which are meant for the market of Scandinavia, and now the first shipment of the finished production is going to be sent to the city of Trondheim in Norway, informed BC marketing expert of Ventspils Free Port Administration Zanda Gulbe.

LTD Heimdal Skonto Latvia was registered in 2012, to start the production of house modules in Ventspils. This company 100% belongs to the Norwegian parent company Heimdal Skonto Norway, which is the joint venture of Latvian Skonto Būve and Norvegian Heimdal Group

For production needs, the company rents Ventspils Free Port territory with the area of ~7.6 ha and the production building at 27 Rūpniecības Street, Ventspils, which was specially designed and build by Heimdal Group few years ago. The factor of the available qualified labor force was also rather important, as well as the fact that Ventspils Free Port Administration and the Municipality showed great understanding and support.  A special economic area’s license has been issued to LTD Heimdal Skonto Latvia.

The company produces the living house modules, and it is planned to realize them in the Scandinavian market. The finished rooms with utilities, decoration, plumbing and furniture have been designed inside the module. The finished modules are delivered to the construction site, where they are going to be assembled as the multi-story buildings, for instance, dwelling houses and hotels. Thanks to the module’s metal construction Heimdal Skonto technology allows to build till 8 store high buildings. Company’s product is certified by SINTEF what means it responds to the highest Norwegian standards of construction norms.

It is planned to produce 250 modules in 2013 in Ventspils production unit, but it is possible to reach the volume of 1000 modules per year if the factory is working on full speed. At the moment there are 42 people employed by Heimdal Skonto Latvia and it could be increased in proportion of factory capacity increase. Export of the finished production will be arranged through Ventspils Port. Ventspils Free Port Administration has already performed the required depth extension works at the company’s pier so that the first ship would leave Ventspils Port already in April.

Founding this plant, Skonto Būve, together with Heimdal Group, works in the Norwegian market as the general contractor. The company does not deliver only separate windows, doors, or glass structures, but completely finished buildings. By the way, the furniture and metal structures produced here, in Latvia, and windows produced in Ventspils are used quite often in these building. Thus, opening this plant, not only new working places at the company’s plant are established, but also assistance is rendered in development of other Latvian producers – exporters.

A solemn production unit’s opening will take place on April 24, 2013 at 15.00 in Ventspils, 27 Rūpniecības Street. The leadership of Heimdal Skonto Latvia, representatives of the company’s owners from Latvia and Norway, Ventspils City Council and Ventspils Free Port Administration’s leadership will participate in the opening.
