Travel.ru announces Lithuania world leader of ecotourism development

Print versionRussian tourism and travel website Travel.ru published a list of countries that best comply with the principles of ethical tourism. According to the correspondent of Travel.ru, Lithuania stands out as a leader on environment preservation and ecotourism development in the annual ranking of tourism portal Ethical Traveler, informs LETA/ELTA.

According to Director at the State Department of Tourism Raimonda Balniene employees of the Lithuanian Tourism Delegation in Russia informed the department about this unexpected ranking.
"By the way, a few weeks ago website Travel.ru announced Palanga town as the best Baltic resort. These facts show exceptional attention of Russian travelers to Lithuania. Russia remains the second most important inbound tourism market. Last year more than 300,000 of Russian tourists travelled across Lithuania and the increase based on accommodation statistics is pleasing us with double-digit growth," says Balniene.
