On December 5, 2012, Swissotel Tallinn celebrated its 5th year anniversary in its conference center; the entire floor was transformed to provide an “Ice and Light” party which included elements ranging from lights shows to an outdoor ice bar, Swissotel said in a statement.

The reception brought together more than 300 guest and partners who have all had their impact on the success of the hotel over the last five years, informs LETA.

"We opened the hotel during the financial crisis and experienced an overcapacity of hotels and apartments in the city. However, since the end of 2009 the recovery of the economic situation contributed to the improvement of our results. Five years old is still quite young but we are confident that the best years are still to come. We are proud to be in this city. It is an important location in our portfolio and will give us the opportunity to expand in surrounding countries. The next opening will be two hotels in Sochi in 2013", said Bart Westerhout, General Manager during his welcome speech.

The plans for the hotel started back in 2004 and on December 10, 2007, Swissotel Tallinn officially opened its doors to the public. The hotel represents the look and feel for new Swissotel projects and the 30 floor tower was an instantly recognizable symbol in the city.

Since opening the hotel has twice received the prestigious World Travel Awards (WTA) title "Estonia's Leading Hotel" in 2010 and 2012.

Swissotel Tallinn also has the honor of being the first ever Estonian hotel to have made it in to the annual “Readers’ Choice Awards” list conducted by the American travel magazine Conde Nast Traveler both in 2011 and in 2012.
