Latvia and Turkey develop business relations

From 16 to May 20, a Turkish delegation visited Riga and participated in a business forum "The potential for cooperation between Latvia and Turkey," which was held on May 17 in RISEBA with the aim to obtain information about the possibilities of the Latvian – Turkish business opportunities to attract Turkish investments into the Latvian economy.

The Forum was supported by the Turkish Embassy in Latvia, and it was organized by the Riga International School of Economics and Business administration (RISEBA), the Institute of Business, Commerce and Culture of Turkey (TBCCI), Bahçeşehir University and the Turkish – American Association of Entrepreneurs (TABA AMCHAM).

TABA/AMCHAM is a member of the Chamber of Commerce of the USA (COCUSA), a member of the European Council of American Chamber of Commerce (ECACC) and the American-Turkish Council (ATC). Among the members of the Turkish delegation there were the representatives of TABA/AMCHAM, as well as owners and producers of major Turkish business: Mr. Fevzi Kalenderoglu, the owner of five companies related to mechatronics, computers, electronics, aviation, office supplies, office furniture, manufacture of industrial paints, producing bank safes, Mr. Ismail Hakki, the owner of the largest construction company Hakki Eksi Company; Mr. Erhan Yilmaz, a representative of a large textile company Simsek Textile and others.

 

Unfortunately, due to a misunderstanding from the Latvian customs officials Mr. Erdal Cakici, CEO of TABA/AMCHAM and the owner of Kermit LLC USA couldn’t enter Latvia


The Latvian business was presented by the companies such as: SIA ABCLife, Diola Art, Balt Kit Ltd., Retail Baltic Ltd., SIA Sasniegums migs, URBAN TRADING ltd., BEYOND BRANDS, TAV Airport / TAV Holding, Environmental Development Association (EDA), Vēja Pļavas, SIA Danix, HEE Photonic Labs Ltd., Baltzelts etc.

On the eve of the Forum, all participants were kindly invited by H.E. Mrs. Serap Ozdzhoshkun, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey to Latvia at the reception to the Turkish Embassy.

Before the beginning of the Forum all participants have received a digest with the information about projects, presentations, participants, as well as RISEBA research project. 

 

Ms. Serap Ozdzhozkun in her welcome speech to participants of the Forum said about the strong bonds of friendship, deep –rooted in history.

 

During the Forum some projects / presentations were presented by: Ms. Evia Segleniece (a representative of the City Development Department of Riga City Council), Ms Iveta Strupkaya (Investment and Development Agency of Latvia-LIAA), Mr. Zulfukar Tosun (Retail Baltic Ltd.), Mr. Giray Cholpan (TAV Airport / TAV Holding), Ms. Zhanna Savchuka and Ms. Dilara Shabayeva (EDA) and Mr. David Lott (Balt Kit Ltd.).

Communication between the participants of the Forum continued during Networking and Contact Fair and in the evening during the opening of the exhibition about Turkey in the FG Royal Hotel (Kalku Str. 28).
