Investment company Trigon Agri that recently bought one of Estonia's largest milk farms Väätsa Agro wants to start producing dairy products under its own brand and also launch building a bio-gas plant, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

Currently the company sells raw milk. Joakim Helenius, who has a major stake in Trigon Agri, said that Trigon plans to either buy an operating dairy plant or create one in the near future.

Trigon recently bought Väätsa Agro that was in bankruptcy danger for a long time. Together with other farms that Trigon owns, including the Kaiu farm, the company has 8,000 cows, 4,000 of whom milking cows. In the next 3-4 years the plan is to increase the number of cattle to 11,000, which would make Trigon EU's largest milk producer.

Next year, Trigon Agri plans to start building a 3MW capacity biogas factory. Electricity will be produced of manure of the Väätsa Agro and Kaiu dairy farm animals.

Helenius said that the plant will be the largest of its kind in Nordic states and the electricity will be sold to the Estonian electricity grid.
