Eesti Raudtee earned a record profit in 2011

The Estonian state-owned railway company AS Eesti Raudtee concern earned, according to the initial consolidated data, a net profit of 34.03 million EUR on sales revenue of 119 million EUR in 2011, LETA/Postimees Online writes.

The company said that this is a record result and exceeds considerably the best years of the firm so far in the first half of 2000s.


A year earlier Eesti Raudtee's revenue was 107.67 million EUR and profit 21.01 million EUR.


Eesti Raudtee's cargo turnover was last year 6,034 million net tonne kilometers, which was by 217 million less than in 2010. The volume of local transport grew last year by 1.17 million tonnes, the volume of international transport fell by 0.29 million tonnes, the company said.


Altogether 30.51 million tonnes of cargo was transported on Eesti Raudtee infrastructure last year, a growth of 0.88 million tonnes in a year. The concern's transport company EVR Cargo transported in 2011 18.09 million tonnes of cargo, which was an increase of 35.9% in a year.
