Marinetek Heavy Duty Pontoons and Breakwaters are now being manufactured in Latvia in the most recent Marinetek production unit, which officially opened in Olaine on 19th October, 25 km from Riga city centre.

The production programme includes all of the most popular larger sized concrete floats in addition to the timber systems, fingers and other components which have been produced in Latvia since 2005. In terms of logistics, Latvia’s location is perfectly positioned to serve the expanding markets in both Northern and Eastern Europe, informed press service of MArinetek.

“Our turnover will grow by 30% this year, and we needed more production capacity in order to comfortably meet our delivery targets in Northern Europe,” said Ilkka Seppälä, CEO of Marinetek Corporation. “It made sense to set up a new production unit in Latvia, where we already have experienced and skilled personnel and a production system that functions well.”

Marinetek has been growing swiftly over the past 10 years around the world and company policy has been to ensure that production capacity is able to meet demand. In addition to manufacture in Finland and Latvia, large Marinetek concrete units are being produced in Sweden, Portugal, Croatia, Turkey, USA, UAE, Russia and Ukraine. Steel Pontoons are being produced in India, UK and Poland and the company will start production in China and Romania in the next few months. Production in 15 countries will ensure growth for the future. The Latvian factory has two casting lines for big units and has capacity for 500 Heavy Duty Pontoons and Breakwaters per year.

“We have several big contracts for customers in Denmark, Lithuania and Poland, for example, which are now being processed. Our factories in Latvia, Finland and Russia are working at full capacity to comply with the delivery schedules. We made the investment decision for Latvia in June and found suitable premises in July. We were able to start production in just two months, which is quite an achievement,” noted Ville Leisti, Technical Director of Marinetek Group.

“We are very satisfied with the new factory. Production has started well and quality meets Marinetek’s high requirements. Our aim is to triple our turnover in two years,” added Vyacheslav Sprishevskiy, Managing Director of Marinetek Latvia.
