Swedish Business Awards 2011 handed out in Lithuania

One of the most prestigious business events in Lithuania – the Swedish Business Awards, was held among the business community in the capital city of Vilnius on October 12, 2011, the banking group Swedbank reports.

The event combined challenging presentations and three awards for achievements in the fields of sustainable growth, social responsibility as well as for the most outstanding young entrepreneur, reports LETA/ELTA.

 

The later was presented by Swedbank.

 

The winner of nomination Young Entrepreneur of the Year was announced Karolis Verbliugevicius, who is the founder of massage salon Matancios Rankos. The salon provides individual consultations and medical treatment by blind and partial sighted specialists who have medical education and high qualification.

 

The award Sustainable Growth Award went to Altechna. The company was praised for developing laser technology based environmentally friendly solar panel production and promoting scientific and business cooperation. The winner of nomination Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year was National Students Academy. It's an additional schooling institution, providing extracurricular activities for gifted students in social, humanitarian and exact sciences and music. It is based on the idea of strengthening the society by investing in high-achieving and motivated youth.

 

This year's keynote speaker of the event was prominent modern-day Swedish economists and writers – Kjell A. Nordström. Other presentations were brought by among others Swedbank Chief Economist Cecilia Hermansson, Vice Speaker of the Swedish Parliament Liselotte Hagberg, Swedbank Head of Baltic Banking Birgitte Bonnesen, Chairman of the Board of Swedbank Lithuania Antanas Danys.

 

Swedish Business Awards is an initiative presented by the Swedish Trade Council in cooperation with the Swedish Embassy in Lithuania, Swedbank and TeliaSonera.
