On Thursday, Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius opened the first Lithuanian industrial solar module assembly line in Vilnius, in Zirmunai Neighbourhood. The line which cost over 20 million litas (5.8 million euros) was set up in the base of the research and production company Precizika, using the financial assistance of the EU funds which reached 10.068 million litas (2.9 million euros).

According to the PM, only a year ago the talks with trade unions and businesses were held on how to combat the crisis, meanwhile now more and more often he participates in the opening ceremonies of different new companies, modern research centres and production lines, writes LETA/ELTA.

"It is very pleasant that the decisions were made when we were in the very bottom of the crisis and today we can see tangible results of them. This object unites a number of strategic goals of Lithuania: high technologies, knowledge technology (which connects science and production) and independent energy sector," PM Kubilius said.

"Solar energy is the most important of all renewable energy sources. It does not exhaust waste thus it makes it one of the most advanced energy sources in our country," Precizika Director General Tomas Kovera said. Lithuanian solar modules will be marketed in Western Europe under the brand name Solet Photovoltaic.
