Narva Power Plants produced a record amount of electricity in 2010

Print versionEstonia’s biggest electric energy producer Narva Elektrijaamad (Narva Power Plants) produced in 2010 a total of 11.5 TWh of energy, which is by 3.6 TWh or 45% more than in 2009, National Broadcasting/LETA reports.

254 GWh of it was produced of renewable energy source, bio-fuel. Till the end of June bio-fuel was used in the new blocs of Estonian and Baltic power plans. After summer repairs, bio-fuel is used in 10% amount together with oil shale only in the Baltic power plant electricity and heating co-production bloc.
The total production volume in Narva power plants was at a comparable level in 1992 when also 11.5 TWh of energy was produced.
Eesti Energia’s Narva Elektrijaamad provides around 95% of electric energy produced in Estonia, exports electric energy to Baltic States and supplies via the Estlink sea cable also Nordic electricity market.
