Latvia's Depo to open EUR 45 mln construction goods store in Tallinn

BC, Tallinn, 14.10.2020.Print version
Latvian chain of do-it-yourself (DIY) stores Depo is about to open its first DIY store and warehouse in Tallinn on Wednesday, writes LETA/BNS.

The investment in the 25,000-square-meter store located in the brand new Avala commercial quarter totals approximately 45 mln euros.

The new Depo is one of the biggest home, garden and DIY stores in Estonia, executives at Kaamos Kinnisvara, developer of the Avala quarter, said.

The CEO of Kaamos Kinnisvara, Priit Uustulnd, described the opening of Depo as symbolic for the developer, as it is the first completed building in the new commercial quarter that is handed over to the tenant.

The material used in the roofing of the Depo building helps neutralize vehicle emissions, and a 15,000-square-meter solar park on the building's roof enables to cover one-third of the total power consumption by the Avala quarter.

The next building to be completed in the Avala quarter is a 12-story office building named Electra, which is developed based on the smart building concept and will offer extensive facilities for electric car charging. The building is to be completed still before the end of this year.

Uustulnd said that for now, a couple of tens of electric car charging points will be set up at the Electra building, and their number will be increased to one hundred in line with growing demand.
