airBaltic reports 22.6% rise in turnover in nine months

Latvian national carrier airBaltic in the first nine months of this year reported EUR 392.937 mln in turnover, up 22.6% from the respective period last year, according to the information published by the airline.

The company's revenue from passenger transportation in the said period reached EUR 356.557 mln, also growing 22.6% y-o-y.

 

In the third quarter of this year airBaltic's turnover was EUR 173.472 mln, up 25.9% from the third quarter of 2018, while revenue from passenger transportation accounted for EUR 153.815 mln.

 

The airline's net liabilities at the end of September reached EUR 640.032 mln, 2.6 times higher than at the end of September 2018.

 

In the first nine months of this year airBaltic conducted 47,779 flights, up 13% y-o-y, carrying 3.875 mln passengers, up 22.3%.

 

In the third quarter of 2019, airBaltic conducted 18,046 flight, growing by 14.8%, and carried 1.646 mln passengers, up 27.4%.

 

In the third quarter of this year, airBaltic's market share at the Riga airport was 62%, in Tallinn - 22%, and in Vilnius - 10%.

 

The airline's fleet in late September consisted of 40 jets with the average age of 7.1 years, including 20 Airbus A220-300s.

 

As reported, airBaltic profit last year increased 46% to EUR 5.4 mln, while the airline's turnover rose 18% to EUR 408.7 mln.

 

airBaltic serves over 70 destinations from Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius.

 

The airline's primary shareholder is the Latvian state, which holds 80.05% of the stock, while Danish businessman Lars Thuesen holds around 20 % through his fully-owned Aircraft Leasing 1.
