O'Learys restaurant chain operator plans expansion in Lithuania
"The group is preparing for expansion and setting up companies for the first expansion steps. We are trying to do so as quickly as possible and it could be in 2019 to 2020," told Tadas Rackauskas, CEO of APL Restaurants, a new company registered in Lithuania.
APL Restaurants registered two new companies, APL Fast Food and APL Restaurants Akr, in December, according to information from the Lithuanian Center of Registers.
Rackauskas said "Akr" in the company name does not mean that it will open in Vilnius' Akropolis mall, adding that no lease contracts have been signed yet.
Estonia’s Apollo Group purchased APL Restoranid, the operator of the O'Learys chain in the Baltics, last August. Plans were then unveiled to open restaurants in Vilnius and Kaunas.
The Baltics' first O'Learys restaurant was opened in Tallinn's Kriistine mall in June. The company says on its website that next year it plans to open restaurants in Tallinn's Ulemiste mall and in Tartu, as well as in Riga's Akropole shopping center.
Apollo Group owns Apollo book stores, Apollo cinemas, Blender juice bars and IceCafe ice cream cafes as well as the film distribution company Baltic Film Distribution.
