Facebook Marketplace expanding to Estonia

BC, Tallinn, 09.11.2017.Print version
Facebook's Marketplace service is quietly making its entry into the Estonian market, as there are numerous Estonian-language ads posted on Marketplace already despite most Estonians not being able to access them, informs LETA/BNS.

Facebook Marketplace does not offer the billing and settlement function, and the transaction and the payment have to be agreed upon between the seller and the buyer.

In August, Facebook said it was starting to roll out Marketplace to 17 countries across Europe, or Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Prior to it Facebook Marketplace was available in six countries: Australia, Canada, Chile, Mexico, New Zealand and the UK.

Marketplace launched in October 2016 and it is also available via Facebook's iPhone and Android app. Goods from children's clothing to real estate can be sold in the virtual marketplace. The listing must include a photo of the item being sold and the price.
