To be able to fulfill the orders of its Finnish minority owner Konecranes OY, the Estonian manufacturer of electric motors AS Konesko is planning to expand facilities at its Turi-Alliku compund and to hire about one hundred more workers, writes LETA/BNS.

"In order to fulfill the contracts of Konecranes better and faster still, we first needed a warehouse and a logistics center. We solved the problem of shortage of space with the purchase of the Turi-Alliku compound," AS Konesko manager Mart Hirtentreu told the regional newspaper Jarva Teataja.

He said acquiring more manufacturing space to be able to fulfill all contracts is on the agenda next.

Hirtentreu said the company has decided to develop a manufacturing site at the Turi-Alliku logistics center, which it considers to have big potential. "We've invested 1.1 mln euros there, which is almost three times the amount we paid for the compound. There may be lots of further investments," he said.

"It isn't ruled out that we will pull down the hangars and build brand new ones in their place," the manager said.

Konesko hopes the number of orders from Konecranes to increase following Konecranes's acquisition of one of the largest crane manufacturers of Germany. "I believe that the business transaction of Konecranes will give a new boost also to Konesko, and for three or four years at least," he said.

"We will definitely need people, at least one hundred in two or three years. This is where we're headed to," he added.

Konesko had a revenue of more than 56 mln euros in 2016, more than three million euros or 6%  bigger than in 2015. Hirtentreu refused to offer any guesses as to the rate of revenue growth this year, saying that he hopes revenue will growth substantially.

KCI Konecranes OY of Finland has been the owner of 49% of shares in Konesko since the end of 2013.
