Biriu Kroviniu Terminalas (Bulk Cargo Terminal, or BKT), a company that has observed rapid growth over the past few years, is readying for a 40-million-euro expansion and subsequent double increase in its loading capacity, Verslo Zinios daily said, cites LETA/BNS.

"We have decided to move all administrative buildings out of the port territory and expand the loading operations instead. We are about to complete the construction of a new office building, and we will move into it in August. The current building will then be torn down to make room for a fertilizer warehouse," BKT CEO Vidmantas Dambrauskas said, adding that the company had already invested about 5 million euros in territorial expansion and removal of old buildings.

A total of five new warehouses will be built in the territory, with each accommodating 40,000 tons of fertilizer.

BKT aims to end the investments by 2018 to allow the terminal to handle about 15 million tons of cargo instead of the current 8 million tons.
