Valmiera/ORDO wins Latvian Basketball League champions' title for the first time

Print versionValmiera/ORDO on Tuesday defeated VEF Riga 78:65 (19:12, 17:23, 18:21, 24:9) in the decisive, seventh match of the Aldaris Latvian Basketball League (LBL) final series, winning the series 4-3, informs LETA.

Valmiera/ORDO captain Arturs Berzins, who scored nine points and pulled down eight rebounds in the final game, was named the most valuable player in LBL playoffs.
Armands Skele scored 14 points for Valmiera/ORDO last night, while Martins Laksa and Kwamain Mitchell scored 13 points each.
On the other hand, Josh Bostic was the highest scorer for VEF Riga with 19 points, while Martins Meiers contributed 12 points.
It is the first time Valmiera/ORDO plays in the LBL finals, and winning the LBL champions' title is the club's biggest achievement to date.
In the last game of the bronze medal series yesterday, Ventspils defeated Liepaja/Triobet 72:66 (21:17, 17:20, 17:13, 17:18) to win the series 3-2.
