Latvian food services provider Lido is planning to open up to 100 restaurants in Germany over the next five years, the company's owner and council chairman Gunars Kirsons reported LETA.

He said that this will be possible by attracting investors. „For example, the last restaurant in Tallinn was opened without our own investments. Investors from Norway invested in this restaurant,” he said.

There are also plans to open restaurants in Austria and Switzerland, according to the Lido representatives.

As reported, Lido has invested EUR 3 million in the opening of its first two restaurants and a food production base in the German capital city Berlin. The two Kirsons restaurants are opening in Berlin this Wednesday, May 18. The project is financed by DNB Banka, Kirsons said.

In 2014, Lido reported a loss of EUR 889,000 on a turnover of EUR 33.158 million, according to Firmas.lv business database. The company’s 2015 turnover might have reached EUR 40 million, and the company has closed the year with a profit.

Lido specializes in catering, food processing and production and distribution of semi-finished products for the food industry. Latvian businessman Gunars Kirsons is the sole owner of the company.

Lido has nine restaurants, several production facilities and retail stores in Riga as well as three restaurants in Tallinn.
