"We are thrilled to continue our expansion in the Baltic region, which has seen impressive growth in the tech sector over the last several years," said Mike Leber, president of Hurricane Electric. "As a result, there is now a strong demand for reliable and high-speed IP transit in the area. Thanks to this new PoP, customers of Elion/Eesti Telekom [Telia] now have access to our rich global network and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), helping them identify the shortest path for reduced network hops and faster traffic delivery.
"This is a company that is buying server hosting service from Telia. We have no other agreement on cooperation with Hurricane Electric," Telia spokesman Raigo Neudorf told BNS.
Fremont, California-based Hurricane Electric operates its own global IPv4 and IPv6 network and is considered the largest IPv4 and IPv6 backbone in the world as measured by the number of networks connected.
