In February this year 1,246 new passenger cars were registered in Latvia compared to 829 in February 2015.

The report includes data from European Union member states, except for Malta. It also shows information from Switzerland, Norway, and Iceland – the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) member states.

New passenger car registrations in February 2016 increased in all European countries covered by the report, with exception of Greece which saw a 32.4% drop.

The steepest rises in new car registrations in February were recorded for Cyprus (76%), Iceland (65.8%), Latvia (50.3%), Estonia (32.6%) and Lithuania (32%).

New passenger car registrations in Europe totaled 1,092,825, growing 14% year-on-year. Of these, 1,056,902 new passenger cars were registered in the EU at a 14.3% increase from February 2015.

In January-February 2016, there were 2,335 new cars registered in Latvia, up 18.1% year-on-year and the tenth steepest growth in Europe. New passenger cars registered in Estonia during the period added up to 3,407, rising 19.7%, and Lithuania showed a 19.2% growth to 2,968.

The total number of new car registrations in Europe in January-February 2016 increased 10.1% to 2,186,605, of which 2,118,273 were cars registered in the EU, also a 10.1% increase year-on-year.
