The Estonian dairy company Farmi Piimatoostus AS, which recently obtained a FSSC 22000 global food safety certificate, is planning to start selling its products on the Swedish market in 2016, informs LETA/BNS.

"The main markets for our exports now are our close neighbors Finland, Latvia and Lithuania. The certificate enables us to expand more forcefully next year. Of the different markets I would single out Sweden, which we see as having the biggest export potential now," Farmi Piimatoostus marketing chief Ruta Kallaspoolik told BNS.

Farmi increased exports by approximately 25% this year, Kallaspoolik said, but remained tight-lipped when asked by how much the company expects to boost exports in 2016.

Obtaining the FSSC 22000 certificate was preceded by four days of audit at the company, in the course of which all processes from the arrival of raw material at the plant to delivery of products to stores were subjected to a scrutiny.

ISO 22000 FSSC is an international standard for the implementation of a certified food safety management system. It covers interactive communication, system management and hazard control.

Farmi Piimatoostus is part of the Maag Grupp food producing group of Estonia that also includes the meatpacking companies AS Rannarootsi Lihatoostus and AS Maag Konservitoostus. Based in the northeastern regional capital Johvi, Farmi Piimatoostus employs a workforce of approximately 200.
