"The expansion of the light oil product farm will give Klaipedos Nafta a competitive edge over neighboring terminals in the Baltic region and will thus help boost cooperation with Belarus' plants," Klaipedos Nafta spokeswoman Indre Miliniene told BNS.
"The company will be able to handle larger gasoline and diesel fuel tankers for its customers and accept several types of light petroleum products for transshipment at the same time," she said.
According to the spokeswoman, the light oil product farm is currently made up of eight tanks with a total capacity of 60,000 cubic meters.
Klaipedos Nafta last week launched a public procurement procedure for the expansion of the tank farm, with plans to build three new 5,000-cubic-meter tanks and four tanks with a capacity of 1,400 cubic meters each. The project is to be completed by mid-2017.
The company also has a farm of four heavy oil product storage tanks.
Klaipedos Nafta last week was awarded the Grand Prix 2015 at the 10th crude oil, LPG and petroleum product congress in St. Petersburg.
According to Klaipedos Nafta CEO Mantas Bartuska, the award is important to the company, which works with a large market and maintains stable relations with customers in Russia and Belarus.
