11 Latvian fish processing companies granted permission to export their products to China

On 29 May 2015, the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China (CNCA) published on its website a list of 11 Latvian food manufacturers which will be allowed to export certain fish products to China including canned, frozen and smoked fish, informs BC the Latvian MFA.

The Latvian companies on the list of approved exporters are: A/S Brīvais vilnis, SIA Gamma-A, SIA Līcis-93 Ģipkas cehs, SIA Līcis-93 Kolkas cehs, SIA Karavela, SIA Dorado, SIA Piejūra, SIA Sabiedrība IMS, SIA Saiva ANNO 1949, SIA Saldus gaļas kombināts, and SIA Unda. This positive result has been achieved through close and constructive cooperation between the Latvian Embassy in China, the Food and Veterinary Service and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia. It should be noted that the opportunity to begin the export of fish products was promoted by the recent visit to China by the Latvian Minister of Agriculture, Jānis Dūklavs, and a business delegation from Latvia.

 

From 4 – 7 May, Minister Dūklavs, was on a visit to China during which he held discussions with high-ranking officials on the possibilities for increasing exports of Latvian food products to China.

 

As reported at the end of April 2015, the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China published on its website a list of ten Latvian food manufacturers which are allowed to export various types of dairy products to China, such as cheeses, milk powder, cream and ice-cream.
