Abavas Winery drinks acclaimed at international exhibition in Frankfurt

Print versionExperts and visitors at Europe's largest apple wine exhibition "Apfelwein Weltweit" have lavished considerable praise on the "Dry Apple Wine" and "Semi-dry Cider" made by Abavas Winery in Kurzeme. Both beverages will soon be retailed in Germany, said Martins Barkans, Abavas owner, cites LETA.

The exhibition took place in Frankfurt, Germany, last weekend, gathering wine and cider-makers from all over the world. Abavas earned high recognition during the "Pomme d'Or" competition, earning two "Golden Apples" for the two beverages previously mentioned.
A total of 120 beverages from a multitude of countries competed at the event. They were judged by a jury, consisting of six wine connoisseurs. The top 40 beverages won the "Golden Apple".
Barkans revealed that Abavas has also signed a cooperation agreement with local stores and restaurants in Germany. The winery's products will soon go on sale in Frankfurt.
Abavas was founded in 2010.
