Cargo handling in Klaipeda Seaport and Butinge increased by 19.3% in January y-o-y

Based on preliminary data, cargo handling in Klaipeda Seaport and Butinge Terminal increased by 19.3% in January 2015 year-on-year. In addition, by 9.2% more cargo was carried by Lithuanian railroads, informs LETA/ELTA.

According to the data provided by Statistics Lithuania, in January 2015, Klaipeda State Seaport handled 3 million tonnes of cargo, by 15.4% more year-on-year. Butinge Terminal handled 700,000 tonnes of cargo, or by 40% more compared with January 2014.

 

Liquid cargo constituted 41.5% (1.5 million tonnes), bulk cargo 34.5% (1.3 million tonnes), general cargo 24% (0.9 million tonnes) of the total cargo handled by the seaport and the terminal. In January 2015, Klaipeda Seaport also handled 34,200 containers and 18,000 road vehicles.

 

In January 2015, 4 million tonnes of cargo was transported by railway, a 9.2% increase year-on-year. National haulage accounted for 1 million tonnes (6.7% increase), whereas international haulage for 3 million tonnes (10.1% increase).
