The 12 Latvian companies that Twino will be taking to Europe’s leading start-up festival Slush have been selected
“A global outlook at the very
starting point of operations – that is what can make an idea stand out among
thousands of other ideas. Slush provides an opportunity to learn from others
and attract the attention of players on a European and worldwide level. We hope
that the participants from Latvia will take advantage of this opportunity and
that Latvia will have another success story. Whether and how the Latvian participants
will utilise the opportunity provided depends on them alone”, explains Twino’s CEO Jevgeņijs Kazaņins. “In addition to those companies that have been
selected to attend Slush, also going will be the four winners of the Startup
Slalom hackathon organised by Startin.LV”, continues Kazaņins.
New promising companies
with product-exporting ambitions were invited to apply to participate in the
annual start-up event. Twino selected the participants of Latvia’s delegation
in cooperation with the Latvian Start-up company association Startin.LV and IT
co-working space TechHub Riga.
One of the companies that
will be heading to the Slush event is Nordigen,
whose services ease analysis of borrowers’ bank statements for companies
operating in the financial sector by automating this process. Nordigen manager Roland Mesters says: "We are very pleased that Twino has given
us the opportunity to join Latvia’s other representatives at Slush. To date we
have very actively sought to expand into the Finnish market, and participation
at Slush will allow us to meet numerous potential cooperation partners in one
place - that is a rare opportunity."
It is anticipated that at least 15,000 participants will attend the Slush festival, simultaneously assembling approximately 2,000 start-ups, at least 800 potential investors and 700 journalists from more than 100 countries from around the world. The event, often also characterised as “Burning Man meets TED”, will take place on November 30 and December 1 in the Finnish capital, Helsinki.
Twino is the fastest-growing mutual lending
platform in Europe. This mutual lending platform was established in Latvia in
2015 and is the first company in the European lending market to offer
guarantees for repurchase of investments, thus avoiding risks among investors.
Twino Group's team consists of more than 500 employees in Latvia, Poland,
Georgia, Russia, Spain, Mexico, etc. Since the company's founding, Twino has
attracted more than 4,000 investors from at least 30 countries, including the
Baltics, Germany and Great Britain.
