ABLV Bank now ranked 3rd largest bank in Latvia

The three largest banks in Latvia at the end of the first quarter, in terms of assets, were Swedbank, SEB banka and ABLV Bank, reports LETA/Nozare.lv, referring to the Association of Commercial Banks of Latvia.

ABLV Bank assets increased 8.4% in the first quarter, overtaking the Latvian branch of Nordea Bank Finland, whose assets fell 2% from the end of 2012, to claim third place.

 

According to the Commercial Banks Association's data, Swedbank assets stood at LVL 3.47 billion at the end of March, SEB banka assets were worth LVL 2.71 billion, ABLV Bank – LVL 2.38 billion, Latvian branch of Nordea Bank Finland – LVL 2.25 billion. DNB banka is in fifth place with assets worth LVL 1.8 billion, followed by Rietumu banka with LVL 1.77 billion and Citadele banka with LVL 1.39 billion.

 

The other banks' assets do not exceed LVL 1 billion. Ranked eight on the list of the biggest banks in Latvia is PrivatBank with assets worth LVL 662.57 million.

 

The total amount of the banking sector's assets was LVL 20.2 billion at the end of March, 0.1% less than at the end of 2012.
