Lithuania to allocate EUR 1 mln to Olympic athletes

Government's Resolution on the support and promotion of high-performance athletes and other team members will provide bonuses for the Olympic athletes who took 1 – 8 places at the Olympic games, including their coaches, care physicians and researchers. Money is allocated from the State general budget appropriations for Department of Physical Education and Sports (KKSD), writes LETA/ELTA.
For the two Olympic gold medals athletes, their coaches and other team members will receive LTL 1.4 million (EUR 0.4 million), LTL 350,000 (EUR 101,367) for the silver medal and LTL 525,000 (EUR 152,050) for the two bronze medals.
Winners of 4 – 8 places will share up to LTL 100,000 (EUR 28,962).
Olympic gold swimmer Ruta Meilutyte will receive LTL 400,000 (EUR 115,848), her coach – LTL 200,000 (EUR 57,924) and serving staff – LTL 100,000 (EUR 28,962).
Pentathlon champion Laura Asadauskaite will receive the same premium.
Canoe paddler who won the silver medal Jevgenijus Suklinas will get LTL 200,000 (EUR 57,924), while his coaches will be paid LTL 100,000 (EUR 28,962) and service staff 50,000 LTL (EUR 14,481).
Bronze medallists wrestler Aleksandras Kazakevicius and boxer Evaldas Petrauskas will receive LTL 150,000 (EUR 43,443) each.
