Estonian prime minister Andrus Ansip said in the Riigikogu inquiries hour on Wednesday that pensions will increase 4.4% in 2012 since none of the government members opposed to it, LETA/Postimees Online reports.
“Estonia can afford a 4.4% pension increase next year. And good growth allows hoping that pension growth in the following years will be bigger than in 2012,” said Ansip.
This year the governments set the pension index value at 1.0, meaning that pensions were unchanged from last year. The index will not fall below 1.
The last time pensions increased was in 2009, by 5%.
