Mandatum was the only one among life insurance companies in Estonia in 2010 to increase its market share – Mandatum has already passed SEB and Swedbank is not far away anymore either, LETA/Äripäev writes.

“Naturally we want to pass Swedbank which is not that far away from us anymore,” said Mandatum Life Insurance Baltic SE bard chairman Imre Madison, adding that their aim is to grow 40-50% in the Baltic states this year.

Swedbank lost some market share last year but is still the leader. Swedbank collected 27.3 mln euros of insurance premiums. Mandatum, which is part of the Sampo Group, managed to increase its market position as compared to other life insurance providers by 5.4% in 2010; its insurance premiums totalled 23.3 mln euros, by 30.6% more than in 2009. The market share of SEB fell by 1.5% and Swedbank saw its market share fall most last year, by 2.3%. SEB collected 17.6 mln euros of premiums.

Last year, life insurance companies collected 78.8 mln euros of premiums, by 4.9 mln euros more than in 2009.
