Profit of Lietuvos Draudimas decreased by third in 2008

Print versionAccording to pre-audited data, in 2008, the company Lietuvos Draudimas earned a profit of almost 38 million litas (11125 million euros), a decrease of 30% year-on-year.

The company gained a pre-audited profit of 51 million litas from non-life insurance activities, which made an increase of 15% compared to 2007, informs ELTA.
Meanwhile, Lietuvos Draudimas faced loss-making investment activities, including bonds, shares and owned real estate. The company's losses reached 6 million litas (1.756 million euros), whereas its profit stood at 20.1 million litas (5.88 million euros) in 2007.
Over the past year, the number of written premiums to the insurance company went up by 10%, from 463 million litas (135.55 million euros) to 510 million litas (149.3 million euros). The company continues occupying the greatest part (35%) of the non-life insurance market in Lithuania.
