Neverovich: Lithuania has to use the potential of shale gas extraction

On Friday, the minister was asked whether he was not planning to announce the new tender for shale gas extraction. Neverovich said that, first of all, there was a need to correct the existing laws related to the natural resource extraction.
"The announcement of the new tender will not bear the fruit. It may be that there will be no one willing to participate in the tender. As a result we have to speak about the possible ways to modify our legislation, so that it would become attractive for the potential participants," said Neverovich.
However, the minister expressed his clear opinion about the process of the shale gas extraction. According to him, Lithuania had to use up its potential.
"Of course, there is a need to ensure all fair requirements related to the environment protection at the maximum; however, we should not allow taking the advantage of it (). I think that this is wrong; we have to use up our potential," said Neverovich.
