It is forecasted that the heating consumption in the Soviet apartment-blocks with a very low thermal insulation was 980 kilowatt-hours per 60 square meters. In 2013, it was 1200 kilowatt-hours per 60 square meters.
The average outdoor air temperature in Vilnius city was about – 0.3 degrees on the Celsius scale; a year ago, the temperature was about – 1.8 degrees on the Celsius scale. Similar temperatures were in other Lithuania's cities.
"In February 2014, the bills are lower not only because of the warmer weather and the less heat consumptions but because of the lower heat price as well," said President of the Lithuanian District Heating Association Vytautas Stasiunas.
980 kilowatt-hours of the heat for the residents of the natural gas-heated apartment-blocks will cost about LTL 284 (EUR 81), while the residents living in the cities were the apartment-blocks are heated with Lithuanian biofuel will pay about LTL 196 (EUR 55).
