Litgrid is fully ready for LitPol Link construction

Lithuanian and Polish electricity transmission operators met in Warsaw to discuss the progress of electricity link LitPol Link project and the soon starting preparatory construction works, informs LETA/ELTA.

Litgrid General Director and Chairman of the Board Daivis Virbickas said that construction in Lithuania and Poland will begin in 2014 and the company was fully ready. The contractors will soon be selected and much attention is devoted to inform inhabitants about the construction of the link and its effect.

 

During the meeting the representatives discussed the merging of Polish and Lithuanian electricity markets and other possible bilateral infrastructure projects.

 

Litgrid is implementing strategic Lithuanian electricity projects.

 

Lithuanian and Polish electricity link LitPol Link will physically connect the three Baltic states with Western European electricity transmission infrastructure and provide conditions to integrate electricity markets and improve competitiveness of the market's participants.

 

LitPol Link by the end of 2015 will operate at 500 MW capacity, while by 2020 the capacity is projected to reach 1000 MW.
