BC, Vilnius, 06.09.2013.Print version
The price of Russian natural gas will be reduced in the future, however, for now it remains the issue of the negotiations. Aleksey Miller, CEO at Russian gas giant Gazprom, says that the price of natural gas for Lithuania will definitely decrease, yet the exact extent of discount will turn out after further negotiations, informs LETA/ELTA.

This was said after the meeting with Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius on Friday.

According to Miller, the further negotiations with Lithuania will cover the issues of investment, transit and commerce.

The price of Russian natural gas should be reduced in the future, yet concrete details of the negotiations between Lithuanian Government and Gazprom will be revealed after the parties will exchange written offers.

Both Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius and Minister of Energy Jaroslav Neverovich refused to reveal the details of the negotiations. According to them, the concrete numbers or conditions of the negotiations could be revealed only after receiving a written offer from the partner.

"A private working meeting took place and we expect that after this meeting we will soon receive written offers and then experts will continue the discussion and the negotiations," said Butkevicius after the meeting with the representatives of Gazprom on Friday.

Though Aleksey Miller, CEO at Gazprom, had said that the gas price for Lithuania would be decreased, the prime minister refrained from commenting on this promise.

"So far I cannot reveal anything. No concrete decisions were made during the meeting. It was a long discussion, a constructive discussion, I think we have to wait ()," said Butkevicius.
