Lithuania needs additional 1 bln euros for Ignalina closure

Lithuania will need additional 3.46 billion litas which equals approximately one billion euros in 2010-2014 for the decommissioning of the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant, as The Lithuania Tribune reports via Lithuanian Public TV.

Almost 1.6 billion euros has been allocated for Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant's decommissioning during a period from 1999 to 2012, informs LETA/ELTA.
As reported, Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant was closed in December 31, 2010.
The EU has allocated 4.7 billion litas (1.361 billion euros) for the IAE decommissioning since 1999.
