"Hotel Bergs" has become the first hotel in Riga to be admitted into the prestige hotel chain "Small Luxury Hotels of the World" (SLH), as the director of "Hotel Bergs", as Iveta Sprudza informed at press conference yesterday.

Hotel "Bergs".

I. Sprudza explained that the cost for joining the SLH chain is GBP 15,000 (LVL 13,200) and the annual membership price, which is calculated according to the number of rooms in the hotel, will constitute GBP 11,600 (LVL 10,254) per year.

Hotel’s director also pointed out that the average occupancy at "Hotel Bergs" last year was 72%. After joining the SLH chain, the plan is to increase the occupancy rate by 10%.

Contrary to global hotel chains, each SLH hotel retains its own character and authenticity, therefore many of the "luxury travelers" prefer SLH to the standardized hotels of global hotel chains.

Last year in the United States, SLH received the highest rating from guests, leaving behind the traditional hotel brands "Four Seasons" and "Ritz Carlton".

SLH unites the most exquisite and elegant small design and boutique hotels from all around the world. The chain unites around 440 hotels from 70 countries, including the exclusive "The Goring" in London, "Branderburger Hof" in Berlin, "Ca'Sagredo" in Venice and "Hotel Art" in Rome.

In Estonia, the SLH chain is represented by the hotels "Telegraaf" in Tallinn and "Padaste Manor" in Muhu island. There are no SLH hotels in Lithuania. In Latvia, SLH chain is now represented by "Hotel Bergs" in Riga and "Promenade Hotel" in Liepaja.

SLH offers membership to hotels, which follow the highest service, comfort and luxury standards, which have a unique character and offer exquisite meals and wines. The quality of hotels is inspected by a special SLH commission.

A significant benefit from joining the SLH chain, for "Hotel Bergs", apart from the international prestige, is also inclusion in the list of world's best small hotels with the joint online reservation system "www.slh.com".

During the press conference yesterday, "Hotel Bergs" received a five-star quality certificate from the director of Latvia's Hotels and Restaurants Association. Thus "Hotel Bergs" has become the sixth five-star hotel in Latvia.

"Hotel Bergs" was opened in 2002 and 2003, it unites two historical buildings in "Berga Bazars" arcade. There are 38 rooms in the hotel, each has is individually designed.
