The regulator concluded that the 2nd cogeneration plant is not working at full capacity, and the new tariffs exceed the price that could be charged if the electricity was produced at an effective thermal power station.
The Public Utilities Commission first turned down the new electricity tariffs proposed by Latvenergo on March 4 this year, and Latvenergo submitted a revised version of the tariffs on March 6.
As reported, Latvenergo has sued the Public Utilities Commission over its decision not to endorse new tariffs of Latvenergo subsidiaries Augstsprieguma tikls and Sadales tikls, which wished to raise the tariffs by 43.9% and 15.1% respectively.
