Visagino Atomine Elektrine to organize construction of new power plant in Lithuania

Print versionThe construction work of the new nuclear power plant (AE) will be organized by Visagino Atomine Elektrine (VAE), subsidiary of the national investment company LEO LT. It will have to implement the preparation plan for the project on the power plant drafted by the Energy Ministry and confirmed by the Government.

The VAE is obliged to implement it regardless of further events in LEO LT. Energy Minister Arvydas Sekmokas states that at least till the dissolution of LEO LT if such decision is made, reports ELTA.
The guideline document on the new AE project and corresponding amendments to the Law on the Nuclear Power Plant were approved at a sitting of the Government on Wednesday and the Cabinet of Ministers should confirm it after a week. Then the law amendments related to the AE erection project will reach the Seimas.
