The President congratulated all who contributed to the birth of this modern center. Capable of providing quick access to information and scientific literature, Vilnius University Library which is open round the clock and seven days a week offers new opportunities for the academic society and each person in Lithuania.

"At last, Vilnius University's treasury of knowledge will open not only to the academic community, but also to each citizen of our country. This center of information is a significant sign of modern, educated and intelligent Lithuania," the President underlined.

Dalia Grybauskaitė wished the Science Communication and Information Center to become not only an important hub of science, business and culture where people come to study or collect scientific material, but also a birthplace of new ideas and innovations.

The President viewed the Center which is the first building in the Saulėtekis valley of science, business and studies. This is the only library in Lithuania equipped with sophisticated logistics, security and water mist fire suppression systems. The library can boast of new information technologies as well as rest areas not only for in-house scientists and students, but also for young families with children.
