The opening ceremony took place at City Hotel Portus with speeches from international studies coordinator Jekaterina Fiskina, EHTE president Toomas Undusk, rector Valvo Paat, managing director of TallinnHotels Ain Kapp and student union vice president Tanel Joesaar.
Ain Kapp, who is also chairman of the council of EHTE Ltd said in his speech that he dreamed that after ten or fifteen years, when those graduates would be respected hotel managers of good hotels, they would say that the choice of studying at EHTE was the best choice they had ever made.
"I like that EHTE is related to real life, which is hotels and people working there. I am not here because I was asked to welcome you, but because I believe in EHTE and I trust the people who work there and share knowledge to the young colleagues," he said.
Hospitality Management courses on Puuvilla street started the following day and will last for another three years.
International students will acquire Estonian language in order to qualify for the internship in Estonian hotels, just like their Estonian comrades.
Rector congratulated students for the specialty they had chosen and wished success for the coming years.
Internationalization is the priority of all higher education institutions. Taken into account the internationalization of hotel business itself, the studies in English are also useful to the local students, not only the foreign students.
