Owners of alien passports can pass Estonian-Russian border without stamp

BC, Tallinn, 18.12.2012.Print version
Passports of aliens and Russian citizens, permanently living in Estonia or any other country of the European Union (EU), will not be stamped on the border of Estonia and Russia starting from December 17, 2012, the LETA reports with reference to the Estonian national broadcasting corporation ERR.

The Police and Border Guard Department of Estonia has issued the decree informing about the changes.

"Taking into account successful experience of other EU member states, and considering the large number of people crossing the Estonian-Russian border, for example, to go to work, Estonia decided not to stamp passports of aliens, as well as citizens of Russia and other countries having residential permits in the EU," Estonian border guard chief spokesperson Valery Kiviselg said.
