Today, the Cabinet of Ministers endorsed a bill, which envisages that Latvia's delegation to the Latvian-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission on economic, industrial, scientific and technical cooperation will be lead by Economy Minister Daniels Pavluts.

Daniels Pavluts.

On October 5, 2004, Latvian and Ukrainian governments signed an agreement on economic, industrial, scientific and technical cooperation that has been in force since February 1, 2006.

The Latvian-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission was established to successfully implement the agreement, writes LETA.

The commission's sessions are led by Pavluts, whilst its secretariat's functions have been entrusted to the Economy Ministry. The commission has already held four sessions, the next one is scheduled in the second quarter of the year.

Last year, both countries agreed to draft a Latvian-Ukrainian economic cooperation program for 2012-2013. The Ukrainian side proposed to sign the program during Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov's visit at the start of this year.

On Latvia's behalf, the program will be signed by Pavluts.
