Lithuanian Zarasai granted status of resort territory

The granting of the resort territory status to Zarasai town will influence the investment attraction to the resort territory, increase of cultural tourism, active leisure, entertainment and variety of services as well as improvement of present tourism services, the Government press release underlines.
Zarasai town has very picturesque landscape, maintained recreational environment and microclimate good for health. The town is situated in a hilly area surrounded by lakes.
Currently, Birstonas, Druskininkai, Neringa and Palanga have status of resort towns.
The status of resort territory is granted to Anyksciai and Ignalina towns as well as to parts of territories of Strigailiskis and Paluse villages. Trakai is also striving for status of resort territory.
