Rhenus operates its own groupage freight routes from the newly established hub in conjunction with another partner. Some of the most important destinations served by the Moscow hub are Archangelsk, Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Nizhni Novgorod, Novorossiisk, Krasnodar, Perm, Rostov-on- Don and Kazan. But arrangements can be made for services to other destinations in the country.
Olaf Metzger, Managing Director of OOO REVIVAL Express has this to say: “There is a huge demand for domestic Russian groupage freight services at the moment. Now that we have the hub, we are in a position to provide this service for our customers from A to Z using our own resources, which match Western European standards. We are planning to open other hubs by 2012 in order to improve distribution over a wide area.”
Rhenus Revival deliberately chose this location for its first Russian logistics hub. The Sherrizone Free Economic Zone in question has excellent transport links and is situated close to Moscow in the most important economic area in Russia. About 25 million consumers live within the catchment area of the Russian capital.
