Apartment building being built in Stockholm by Nordecon reaches full height

Swencn AB, a company of Nordecon Group, has celebrated topping out an eight-story apartment building being built in Stockholm and the company entered into a 6.3 million euro contract with Swedish property development company Brabo Stockholm AB for the construction of the building, informs LETA/BNS.

Estonia's EU presidency was EUR 7 mln less expensive than planned

EC grants EUR 9.2 mln to Lithuanian farmers, 3.46 mln to Latvian

The European Commission has decided to earmark 9.21 million euros in European Union (EU) support to Lithuanian farmers affected by heavy rainfall, the EC mission in Lithuania told BNS on Wednesday. The European Commission will provide EUR 3.46 million from EU agricultural funds to help farmers from Latvia who had to face exceptional rainfall in the autumn, the Commission’s representation in Latvia reported LETA.

Latvia records second biggest rise in construction output in EU

Production in Latvia's construction sector in the third quarter of 2017 increased 25% as compared to the same quarter in 2015, which was the second biggest rise across the European Union member states, writes LETA, according to Eurostat data.

EU ministers back Lithuania on trade in electricity from 3rd countries

EU energy ministers have agreed that the legislation of the bloc and its member states, including environmental and safety policies, should also apply to EU internal electricity market participants from third countries, a move of particular importance for Lithuania, which has decided to restrict power imports from Belarus' Astravyets nuclear power plant and calls on all EU countries to support this initiative, informs LETA/BNS.

Removing obstacles & reinforcing trust in the Single Market for SMEs and consumers

Two new Commission’s drafts are aimed at making it easier for companies, especially SMEs, to sell their products across Europe. Besides, the proposals would reinforce trust and strengthen control by national authorities and customs officers to prevent unsafe products from being sold to European consumers. Adopted by the European Parliament and the Council, they will be directly applicable in the member states.

Spending EU taxpayers´ money must bring better results

Three years ago the European Court of Auditors (ECA) – EU’s independent external audit body – warned that the culture of “use it or lose it” has to stop. The rationale behind the statement was that the focus on the use of EU taxpayers’ money had been for many years on absorption, not on results.
