German Ambassador to Latvia Klaus Burkhardt and Finnish Ambassador to Latvia Maria Serenius confirmed that their governments are informed about Latvia's interests in the bloc's multi-annual budget and expressed support for Latvia's efforts to join the eurozone in 2014.

Dombrovskis informed about Latvia's priorities in the EU's new budget for 2014-2020, pointing out that Latvia is not content with the European Commission's current proposal regarding agricultural and cohesion policies. Latvia believes it is necessary to maintain the bloc's cohesion funding to Latvia at least at its current level and ensure a fairer distribution of direct payments among the EU nations.

Dombrovskis thanked the ambassadors for their contribution to the development of Latvian-German and Latvian-Finnish relations, and emphasized that both countries are important partners of Latvia. Latvia believes that strengthening cooperation in politics, economy, culture, education and other areas is of great importance, added the prime minister.
