3,631 destitute citizens of the European Union countries have been repatriated from Ireland to their respective countries since 2004, when Ireland opened its borders to foreign labor force.

548 EU citizens were repatriated last year. 302 of them were Romanians, 77 Poles, 62 Latvians and 36 Lithuanians.

The repatriations, which have cost about EUR 126,000 (LVL 88,450), were covered by the Irish state as part of a special plan to help destitute immigrants, informs LETA.
