"In the meeting, the Polish president indicated the principle that he had told about in an interview with the Polish daily Rzeczpospolita – we should work on what unites us rather than what separates us. In this way he referred to Polish-Lithuanian relations and cooperation between Polish and Lithuanian leaders," Semaska told the Ziniu Radijas on Tuesday. He added that Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski did not stress problematic issues in a meeting with Dalia Grybauskaite, despite the complaints about discrimination and poor living conditions voiced by the Poles living in Lithuania, informs LETA/ELTA.
According to the presidential adviser, the main focus was given to economic ties between the countries which are especially strong at the moment.
"Investments of Lithuanian companies in the Polish economy and those of Polish companies in Lithuania are growing; the economic integration is improving, trade volumes are also growing. Poland is one of the key trade partners of Lithuania," said Semaska.
Grybauskaite's adviser added that the two presidents also discussed cultural ties between Lithuania and Poland which received special attention from the Polish president.
"Great focus was given to Czeslaw Milosz's death anniversary celebration, the presidents agreed to patronize the events. This year, we will also mark the 100th anniversary of the death of our painter and composer Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis and the Polish president also showed interest in the anniversary. In this way he shows particular attention to the star of our culture, which is also a unifying factor," said Semaska.
