Juncker congratulates Juri Ratas on becoming Estonia's prime minister

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker on Tuesday congratulated Juri Ratas on becoming Estonia's new prime minister, reports LETA/BNS.

"On behalf of the European Commission and myself personally, I would like to congratulate you on winning the trust of the Parliament of Estonia to become the Prime Minister of Estonia," Juncker said in a letter sent to Ratas.


"I look forward to working with you for a stronger and better Europe that continues to improve the living and working conditions of our people. You can count on the European Commission's support to Estonia in achieving these goals," he added.


Juncker also mentioned Estonia's Council of the European Union presidency in the second half of 2017.


"I am confident that during the presidency we can join our efforts in tackling the challenges the EU is facing and help deliver increased investments, create more jobs and promote the Digital Single Market and the Energy Union," Juncker wrote.


Juncker expressed hope that he will soon meet with Ratas.


Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid on Tuesday appointed into office the government led by Juri Ratas.
